Many people believe that the ushering in of the New Year is the perfect time to make changes in our lives. We are all young at heart and eager to achieve in life. That’s why countless folks make New Year’s resolutions for the upcoming year. Yet, according to University of Scranton research, only around 8% of resolution-makers go on to achieve their goals.

How about you? Are you busy making your resolutions, too? As the days of January roll by, is it a recurring theme to have your resolution fade away? Whether your resolution is geared towards family, career, or health, here are some tips to help you increase your chances of success:

Articulate your goal.

Write down your goal and position that paper somewhere that you’ll see it regularly. Express it verbally by reading your paper on a frequent basis.

Be clear.

Making your goal clear will help you stick to a specific goal better. For example, if your goal is to save money, avoid a broad resolution of “saving money.” Instead, define your goal. For example, you could have a resolution to “save $100 per month.” Once you’ve decided your goal, define how you’ll accomplish it. Write down the steps involved to ensure success.

Monitor your progress.

You’ll be more motivated to stick to your resolution once you see you’re making progress. The better your performance, the more odds there are of achieving success. Keep a journal of your performance so you see little bursts of motivation along the path to success.

Enlist a partner.

By enlisting either your spouse, a sibling or a close friend to help you in your pursuits you’ll be held accountable to your goals. This partner can follow-up on your performance or join you in your journey. With mutual help, it’s no surprise that partners succeed more in accomplishing goals.

Stay nourished.

A healthy body is a healthy mind, and vice versa. Whatever your resolution may be, we’ll help you stay nourished on your path to success. Savor the healthy goodness of warm gourmet soup and put your brain to work. Happy new year.
