Product Use and Care

Spoonful of Comfort packages are all about taking care of the person who receives them. Here are a few tips in return about taking care of what comes inside the box.

Freshness Guarantee

Everything from our kitchen is packed to withstand 3 days in transit. Our soups are “blast frozen” to lock in freshness and prepare them for their journey. We wrap each container in a proprietary insulated liner with gel ice packs to keep it food-safe for up to 3 days. Our ice cream is packed in an insulated box with safely contained dry ice to keep pints perfectly frozen until arrival.

When There’s a Shipping Delay

When severe weather events occur, we continue to ship our packages while communicating daily with UPS. Together, we determine what shipping options are feasible (for example, we won’t offer overnight shipping when weather will prevent that delivery).

Please know that Mother Nature can still surprise us. Even if your shipping destination is not impacted by the weather, other hubs and transit routes may affect the overall network. Our 3-day Freshness Guarantee was created for unanticipated slow-downs.

You will get a shipping number to track your package’s arrival (and we’re watching it, too!). In the unlikely event that it does not arrive within our freshness window, please contact Customer Support for a refund or replacement order.

Soup Packages

Spoonful of Comfort Soups and Mac n' Cheese

  • Upon receipt, remove from the silver mylar pouch. Freeze for up to 2 months, refrigerate for up to 5 days, or prepare immediately.
  • If your containers are frozen, let them thaw in the refrigerator for 1-2 days, or immerse the container in cool water for 30-40 minutes. You may also defrost in the microwave. Start by microwaving for 2-3 minutes on defrost setting, then in 30-second increments until fully thawed. These methods are considered safe by the USDA.
  • To heat, gently pour desired amount into a saucepan (1-2 cups per serving). Warm on medium heat until heated through, stirring (and maybe tasting!) occasionally.
  • To microwave, pour desired amount into a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high, loosely covered, for 1-2 minutes. Stir and carefully test temperature. If needed, microwave in 30-second increments until fully heated through.
  • The USDA recommends heating soup to 165 degrees for safe consumption.
  • Refrigerate any leftovers. If you want to save some of your soup or mac n' cheese for later, you can safely refreeze a portion of it. The USDA recommends that thawed food be refrozen within 3-4 days.

Spoonful of Comfort Rolls and Cookies

  • Rolls and/or cookies are ready to eat!
  • If you wish, remove from packaging and heat in 350° oven for 5 mins, or until warmed.
  • A little butter to top the rolls never hurts!
  • We do not recommend refreezing our rolls or cookies and enjoying them fresh for the best quality and experience!

Pie Packages

How to Enjoy Your Mini Pie Medley

  • Pies are best enjoyed heated in the oven or toaster oven at 350 degrees for 20-22 minutes. Or, remove the pies from aluminum tins and heat in the microwave for 20-30 seconds.
  • Pies may be kept at room temperature or refrigerated if desired
  • For optimal freshness, enjoy your pies within 5 days or freeze for up to 60 days.
  • The patterned blue box can be used as a serving tray!

Ice Cream Packages

Here’s the Scoop on Your Ice Cream Package

  • Your ice cream has been carefully packed to arrive frozen.
  • It’s okay if the dry ice is already gone—but to keep your frozen pints in peak condition, move them to the freezer right away.
  • When you’re ready to indulge, let your ice cream rest at room temperature for 10-20 minutes, softening to perfect scooping consistency.
  • Please don’t touch or ingest the dry ice! It can cause frostbite and burns. Keep it out of reach of children and pets.
  • The dry ice has been safely tucked away under a panel beneath your ice cream. Simply remove the panel and let the dry ice dissipate in an open, well-ventilated area. Avoid inhaling or coming into contact with dry ice vapors.
  • Hand wash and and dry the ice cream scoop after each use.

Fellow - Electric Tea Kettle

We highly recommend cleaning your kettle at least once a month to properly maintain its performance. Here are some steps for effective cleaning of your electric kettle:

  • Prior to cleaning, be sure the kettle has cooled completely. Empty any remaining water from the kettle.
  • Wash the inside of the kettle with soapy water and rinse. Never submerge the kettle in water or other liquids.
  • Wipe the exterior of the kettle and base with a damp cloth or sponge and allow it to dry. Do not use abrasive soaps, cleansers, or scouring pads on any part of the kettle as it may damage the finish.
  • Do not place it in a dishwasher. Neither base nor kettle is dishwasher safe and both include electrical components that could become damaged.
